What is Panda Agate?

Panda agate is a type of agate, which is a variety of chalcedony quartz. It is characterized by its striking black and white banding patterns, resembling the fur of a panda. These patterns are formed by the deposition of various minerals, such as manganese and iron, during the agate's formation process.

Origins of Panda Agate

Panda agate is primarily found in the Xinjiang region of China, where it is mined from ancient volcanic rocks. The unique geological conditions in this area have contributed to the formation of this rare gemstone. 

Properties of Panda Agate

Panda agate has a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, making it a relatively durable gemstone. It has a vitreous luster and a translucent to opaque appearance.
