Jayavarman - Devotion and Compassion statue.
Jayavarman was a king of the Khmer Empire. He was the son of Dharanindravarman.
As a practicing Buddhist, he did not rely on royal homage to the gods to protect the city. He built a huge wall around it for the first time. The wall is still in place today.
Jayavarman inspired many due to his devotion to Buddhism and his compassionate nature.
He also built and repaired many firehouses across the Empire which are places for travellers to rest. And he also built many other buildings which were used as hospitals.
