On this day people lights tiny diyas (earthen lamps) and create colourful designs of rangoli art to illuminate and decorate their homes.

The festival marks an important date in the Indian calendar; Vikram Savant where King Vikram saved India from the potentially disastrous foreign rule.

The statue shows Lakshmi - goddess of prosperity in health, wealth and long life; Saraswata - goddess of knowledge (the ultimate wealth) and Ganesha - the good of success by overcoming obstacles.
